All In a Days Work...

Yesterday I told you how I helped Grandpa start the landscaping project.  Well yesterday I helped Daddy with probably the hardest part of the landscaping project...hauling rock!! We started off with a ton a rock...lets me rephrase that...we started off with 18 TON of rock!

Dad and I's job was to start hauling rock to this retaining wall and work our way up!
It looks like a simple task, but don't let it fool you!

With Dad's strong arms, he made the job look so easy!
He'd walk the wheel barrel up the hill, fill up the wheel barrel, and carefully walk the full and heavy wheel barrel back down the hill! Fortunately Dad is pretty meticulous too, so I didn't have to pull the "Well Grandpa would normally make sure it's evenly spread, so make sure it's even"
Once again, I was Project Manager! I kinda like this title...Esther Wiederin, Project Manager.  Of course the key responsibility of being Project Manager is making sure there is ALWAYS a ball within arms length of employee! But I do see a safety concern...I'm pretty sure that rake shouldn't be facing up!

Each trip I would follow Dad up the hill and to the rock pile and watch him fill up the wheel barrel.  I always opted to relax on the grass as I learned it was much softer and easier on my nails!
"Dad, I know you're strong but be careful you don't fill that up too much! I don't want you to hurt yourself and not be able to play ball with me!"

After what felt like forever, it was finally lunch time!
"Grandma said you can come in for lunch now! I'm suppose to remind you to clock out though!"
We didn't stop after lunch, oh no!! Out we went...our job wasn't done!
40 loads later, we called it a day! Yes, that's down and back 80 times! I really wish I had my pedometer on me to see how many strides I took!
After the last load of rock, Dad and I were so pooped that I just let him rest his head on me!
Picture perfect, I think so!

I think we'll both sleep good tonight!!
